Discover Sailing

One of our instructors will take you afloat in our 3 to 4 man dinghies. You will receive a practical introduction to the art of sailing. A short break ashore will provide the training to enable you to take full control of the dinghy on your return to the lake. This time your instructor takes the passenger seat. 1 hour session.

Price: £28 per person

This introduction course is designed for those with little or no sailing experience. It is held over 2 days, from 9.15 to 1.30 each day. Our qualified instructors will guide you though the basics of learning to sail through a combination of on land and on water teaching you will achieve a standard where you are competent and confident enough to sail around a triangular course. Either in single handed (S/H) or double handed (D/H).

Those sailors who have passed the level 1 course, can then move on to level 2, where they will learn to sail more effectively, turn quicker and be introduced to more advanced techniques such as man overboard and racing. This course can be completed in either single handers or large crew dinghies. Again, this is held over 2 days from 9.15am to 5pm for normal course and 2.00pm to 6.00pm fast track course.

We run a full range of advanced sailing courses, including Seamanship skills, Sailing with Spinnakers, Multi hull endorsements and Introduction to Racing. All of these courses will challenge and advance the level 2 sailor and are an ideal way to try new boats and techniques. These are held on demand, so just give us a call if you are interested.

We can offer personal one on one tuition with our instructors through out the season. If you wish to improve your sailing or iron out any niggling problems, this is a great way to do it.

We have a full range of boats available to hire for those who have their level 2 standard or above, including Laser Picos, Funboats, Sport 14', Laser Bahia and Dart 16's. Boats can be hired from 1 hour and we have a variety of options such as hire cards and memberships, which are all designed to get you out racing across the water.

A direct stepping stone from Level 2. This course focuses on developing the use of the five essentials and introduce new more advanced skills. We give you a taste of seamanship skills, spinnaker sailing and racing.

The course is over  two days on selected weekends (15hrs).

Cost £175 per person

Even in a light wind, catamarans move quickly because of their narrow hulls. Increase the wind strength and enter the 'buzz' factor zone. It will almost seem like you are flying because of the speed. When the maximum speed is achieved one hull just lifts out of the water which is when it gets really exciting.

All specialist equipment is provided with our course, including spray tops and buoyancy aids. We recommend you bring along a change of clothes, towel, and some old trainers to wear on the water and some warm clothes for afterwards.

The courses are a mixture of on-land simulator sessions, discussions, group and individual activities, on-water demos and personal coaching from safety boats. Group sizes are a maximum of 6 students to 1 instructor, both for your safety and quality of instruction.
